In A New Coat For
Anna I learned two important things: When there is a war it
is very hard to buy things and after the war ends you might not
have any money. The problem in the story was that Anna needed
a new coat but Anna's mother couldn't buy one. They went to a
farmer, a spinner, a weaver, and a tailor and all together they
made Anna's new coat. Anna's mother did not have any money, but
she used Grandpa's gold watch and some other nice things (a beautiful
lamp, a garnet necklace, and a porcelain teapot) to get Anna's
coat. This kind of trading is called bartering. My favorite part
of the story was that they got her coat done in time for Christmas.
